This is the twenty-second issue of Seeking Yield by Staked, a weekly update about the most interesting things happening in crypto asset staking and lending.

🤝 Staked Partners with Continue Capital

Continue Capital has recently selected Staked to run server infrastructure for its proof of stake investments. Continue Capital has invested in 40+ crypto projects (including Algorand, Cosmos, Tezos, Polkadot, and Filecoin) and understands the value of a secure and reliable staking partner.

The first network Staked and Continue Capital partnered on is Algorand, with plans for more.

“Continue Capital, as one of the earliest investors of Algorand, is honored to partner with Staked to achieve the mission to build an inclusive, decentralized and trusted ecosystem,” said Xiahong Lin, Founding Partner of Continue Capital, regarding the partnership.

We look forward to working closely with Continue Capital as the proof of stake ecosystem grows over the next few years!

❄️ ETH 2.0 Phase 0 Spec Frozen

The Ethereum 2.0 Phase 0 Spec was officially frozen earlier this week. For those unfamiliar, Phase 0 of ETH 2.0 entails the proof of stake beacon chain with limited functionality.

This spec serves as a stable target as implementers work toward multi-client testnets in addition to on-going efforts in formal verification, fuzzing, and audits.

Notable beacon chain features included in the release:

  • minor modification to inclusion rewards and adjust reward factor (#1159)

  • introduce Checkpoint type (#1210)

  • slashing penalty calculation change to prevent gaming (#1217)

Notable bug fixes included in the release:

  • critical Transfer bug (#1220)

  • fix scaling for inclusion_reward (#1257)

Thus, the second largest blockchain formally begins it’s transition to proof of stake - a massive step for Ethereum and the entire proof of stake ecosystem!

📢 Solana Announces Tour de SOL

Solana has recently announced Tour de SOL, an incentivized testnet event inspired by Cosmos’ Game of Stakes.

Tour de SOL is designed to strengthen the Solana validator community as mainnet approaches. The intended result: the most healthy and decentralized network possible.

The first stage of the Solana Tour de SOL is set to kick off early August. Look out for complete details, rules, token pool, and timeline!

🌐 Latin America's Largest Investment Bank To Use Tezos

Banco BTG Pactual S.A., Latin America’s largest standalone investment bank, together with Dalma Capital, a prominent Dubai asset manager, recently announced plans to utilize the Tezos blockchain for Security Token Offerings (STOs).

The press release by the Tezos Foundation reads:

“By utilizing the new platform for digital securities transactions, the financial institutions address a deal pipeline in excess of $1bn for existing and prospective token issuances – with an outlook to utilize Tezos to tokenize a wide variety of traditional and alternative investments.”

BTG Pactual was the first major investment bank to officially launch a Security Token Offering (STO), previously announcing its plans to launch ReiBZ in February.

“While the bank remains protocol and technology agnostic, and will continue to utilize the Ethereum protocol, we see Tezos as a global player with a robust blockchain for asset tokenization” said Andre Portilho, BTG’s Partner responsible for the initiative.

It will be exciting to watch this initiative materialize over the coming years and the effects it may have on the Tezos ecosystem.
